What to put in a translation brief

The facts a provider needs to give you a real price instead of a guess. Write it in your own words: the brief writer turns it into scope and deliverables, asks about anything missing, and you can edit every line before it goes out.

Start the brief
  1. 1The language pairs, and the regional variant (Brazilian or European Portuguese)
  2. 2How many words or minutes, and the file formats
  3. 3Any glossary, or terms that must stay the same
  4. 4Whether you need a second linguist to review

Should I ask for a native speaker?

For anything customers read, yes: ask for translators working into their native language, say so in the brief, and check each provider's profile before you accept.

What does it cost to hire for translation work?

You set the budget when you post, as a fixed price or an hourly rate, and providers quote against the brief. Taskedwright doesn't suggest prices, and posting and hiring are free for companies. You agree terms and pay your provider directly.

Who sees my task?

The brief goes to every provider who lists Translation as a category, and it appears on the open task board. You compare their proposals side by side, message them, and accept the one you want.

Do translation work?

List Translation as a category and new briefs in it are sent to you, with the budget, timeline and deliverables spelled out. Free to join, free to send a proposal.

Our iOS and Android ordering app has about 1,800 strings in English, exported as JSON. We need natural Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese versions ready for an app store release, plus the store listing text. Done means both language files pass a review on our staging build.
